Put a Stop to Unread Blog Posts With These Simple Tricks
As the passionate blogger that I know you are I am sure that you put lots of time and thought into every single post, unfortunately your readers probably can’t say the same. Although you’d like to think they are taking the time to read every single sentence the reality is that they are probably skimming through it until they find an interesting place to jump in. Here are some easy ways to help them jump in sooner:
Fun or attention grabbing visuals
Simply by adding an interesting or informative visual you can give readers some insight about the post or pique their curiosity enough to read and find out more. You don’t need to be a photographer or graphic designer to create great visuals, sometimes a photo snapped with a camera app, or a simple screenshot of the perfect example is enough to pull a reader in.
Break it up
There is almost nothing more daunting then clicking on a great headline to be presented with a big dense blog of never ending text. No matter how interesting that post might be it still is just visually boring. When you have topics to cover that require a more lengthy post try breaking up your post into different complete thoughts. People do better with headlines, main ideas, lists, and short descriptions.
Bold
You can also bring attention to main ideas in your paragraphs by putting words and sentences in bold. Simply by changing the weight of the font you can stop someone that may just be skimming over the post, draw them in for a closer look, and maybe even a comment.
Do you use any of these methods on your blog? Do you have more ways to make a blog post more readable?
